πŸ“– Parish History

The Senjai parish was erected on 7 August 1943. In its early years, the Catholic community in the Karaikudi region was small, but it grew steadily over the 20th century.

Through the leadership of several priests and the dedicated service of the sisters, the parish established a parish house, the Little Flower R.C. Middle School, and a chapel at a nearby sub-station named Sekkalai.

Major renovation and development works took place during 1995–1996, including fencing the cemetery and creating a new shrine near Devakottai Road, which now serves as a centre for Saturday evening Mass and adoration.

Over time, Senjai parish expanded to include multiple sub-stations and continues to remain an important centre of faith, unity, and community service.

🌸 Patron Saint

St. Theresa of the Child Jesus (Little Theresa) is the patron of the parish. Her β€œLittle Way” of love, humility, and complete trust in God continues to inspire the faithful of Senjai parish.

🎊 Parish Festival

The grand annual feast of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus is celebrated with devotion and joy during the 2nd week of October every year.

✨ The celebration includes flag hoisting, novena prayers, solemn Holy Mass, procession, and cultural programs.
